Bio Oil Review

Weight loss is difficult enough to achieve without having to worry about the consequences for your skin. You can exercise your fat away and grow to great health, but your skin will still bear the mark of what your belly used to be. Bio Oil is a non-greasy skin product that over time is advertised to reduce stretch marks, reduce wrinkles, fight scars, and give your skin a healthy luminescence to boot.

Ingredients
Bio Oil contains a proprietary blend of a number of ingredients that have long been known to preserve and enhance the health and healthy glow of your skin. The main ingredients in Bio Oil are Vitamins A and E, Lavender oil, Calendula oil, Rosemary oil, and Chamomile oil.

For starters, Vitamins A and E give the skin the nutrients it needs in order to accelerate its healing. Vitamin E has long been known to be an essential ingredient for the healing of the skin. Calendula oil is used for dermatitis, an inflammation of the skin. It is very widely used in a solution for the treatment of acne, and is also said to have anti-inflammatory properties.

For that soft touch, Bio Oil contains Lavender oil. Lavender oil has been used for centuries in perfumes and fragrances, and is also extremely popular for use in aromatherapy. It has also been said to help for minor muscle sprains and bruises.

Chamomile has much the same uses as Lavender, which are primarily for aroma and aromatherapy, though it too may have anti-inflammatory properties. Though traditionally used in a tea, in a skin salve such as this it can add its own unique character and along with the Lavender oil make Bio Oil a pleasure to apply and a pleasure to leave on the skin.

Pros & Cons
The benefits of using this cream are many. Because of its ingredients it has anti-inflammatory properties, and because of its vitamins A and E in particular it definitely aids in the regeneration of skin. It is not known, however, how much it would help compared to say, a topical oil combining just Vitamins E and A with Lavender oil. More research into this product is needed. The mineral oil it contains, despite the claims of Bio Oil being non-oily, pretty much by definition means that it is. Mineral oil does not clog pores, however, and will aid in keeping all the ingredients together and therefore have a synergistic effect on their combined potential.

Conclusion
Bio Oil seems to be a very promising product with many ingredients that, if it turns out are not effective, are at least a joy to put on the skin and to wear. More research into this product is needed before the conclusion can be made that it eliminates stretch marks completely over time. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and this reviewer does not feel confident that such evidence has yet been provided.
